The recipe comes from Gordon Ramsay’s iPhone app, which lets you take a picture of the final product and be rated by the chef himself. So I guess one of the features of the app is that he’s in your iPhone and that he can somehow taste your food through it. Is there nothing he can’t do?
The first time I took a pic, he told me it looked like a dog’s dinner and that there was no color. When I readjusted the camera and presentation, he told me it was the best he’d ever tasted. Put this one in the win column.
3-1/2 cups chicken stock
2 large serrano peppers
1 inch, ginger, chopped
2 lemongrass stalks, chopped
4 tbsp. fish sauce
juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp. sugar
5 oz. shittake mushrooms, chopped
9 oz. shrimp, shelled and deveined
Put the sock in a pot and bring it to a simmer.
Slice the peppers in half lengthwise and add to the stock with the ginger, lemongrass, lime, fish sauce, sugar and season with some pepper. Simmer until fragrant.
Strain the stock into a large bowl, then add back to the pan. Add mushrooms and shrimp, and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the shrimps are cooks.
Chop the cilantro and stir through.
